Trumpet soloist from London
Philip has been Principal Trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra since 2009.
As a youngster, he regularly featured as a soloist on both the cornet and the trumpet throughout the UK and abroad alongside his brother, Matthew, and father, Stephen. In more recent years, he has appeared as a soloist in his own right with appearances at London’s Royal Albert Hall and the International Trumpet Guild conference in Boston, USA, as well as releasing the solo discs Life Abundant with the Cory Band and organist Ben Horden and Songs From The Heart with the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army.
Philip is a former student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, having studied with Principal Trumpet of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Paul Beniston, and renowned trumpet soloist Alison Balsom. Upon graduation, Philip was immediately in high demand, trialling for positions in the London Philharmonic and Hallé orchestras before accepting his current position with the LSO. He has his own Signature line cornet mouthpiece in the Alliance Brass Ltd. range and has also designed a line of trumpet mouthpieces.
