Flugelhorn Mouthpiece – silver plated

This 3CF is quite simply this mouthpiece ticks all the boxes for me and, best of all, it was really enjoyable to play! Comfortable, wonderful warm sound with great overtones, very slotted intonation, effortless in all ranges and the response was superb. I think this will be a favourite with brass band flugelhorn players!

The J flugel mouthpiece, designed for jazz, really impressed me! My absolute favourite, so much so that I used it in a recording for a pop band only days after testing it! It has a less conventional brass band sound, more commercial, in fact. What it lacks in darkness of sound compared to bigger mouthpieces it more than makes up for in the feeling of confidence you get from it. I found playing over every range (even extremes like up to high F above C) effortless! The intonation was consistent throughout from top to bottom. It is very comfortable on the lips, allowing great flexibility. A great flugel mouthpiece, but sound-wise a little different from the traditional brass band tone. For that I would point players in the direction of the 3CF. Perfect for trumpet players who double on flugelhorn!
